“Future Studies…” are mixed-media, relief sculptures of hand-cut and formed paper fishes. The main material of these of paper sculptures are laser printed geographical maps on archival paper. The work relies on the visual metaphor: "a map is in the guts of a fish" -- specifically Lampris guttatus (Moon Fish). There is a strange juxtaposition of something very large (geography) being contained inside a much smaller thing (a fish’s body).  How can the world fit inside a fish?

"There is no directed fishery for Opah; the fish is caught incidentally on long lines for tunas and billfish in Hawaii and American Samoa". (http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/fishwatch/species/opah.htm)

Moon Fish (Opah) may become a viable alternative food source for humans, as other populations are overfished.
